Nipple surgery

Invaginated (inverted) nipples are characterized by the fact that they do not point outward normally, even when stimulated manually or with cold, and hence remain retracted. This can create a complex, which is easily corrected by a quick, effective surgical intervention to restore the nipples’ natural shape. Since invaginated nipples can be problematic for breastfeeding, this procedure is sometimes covered by health insurance.

ADDED EXTRA

Crisalix is 3D simulation software that shows the results of aesthetic surgery. This tool helps patients better express their request and enables surgeons to give clear, reasoned explanations. Patients are therefore better informed when they decide to have an operation.

QUESTIONS/ANSWERS

  • Can you breastfeed with inverted nipples?
Inverted nipples are caused by short lactiferous ducts, through which milk flows. This makes breastfeeding very difficult or even impossible. After the intervention, it will not be any easier to breastfeed but your nipples’ aesthetic appearance will be restored.
  • Is there any scarring after the intervention on inverted nipples?
The intervention causes very discreet scars – which become invisible after a year – at the base of the nipples.
  • When are the definitive results obtained?
The nipples’ natural appearance is restored immediately after the intervention. You should nevertheless expect 3-4 weeks’ healing before obtaining the definitive result.
