BREAST LIFT SURGERY (MASTOPEXY)
Breast lift surgery, also called mastopexy, aims to correct sagging breasts (breast ptosis). This intervention put back the nipples and areola to their correct position and lifts the breasts. It can also be combined with a breast augmentation if the patient does not have a breast with enough volume.

- Is there major scarring?
Breast-lift scarring can be in 3 parts:
– a circular scar around the areola (always)
– a vertical scar between the lower pole of the areola and the submammary fold (frequently)
– a horizontal scar in the submammary fold (inverted T-shape) - Can you breastfeed after a breast lift?
The ducts delivering milk to the nipples are not touched during the intervention. It is therefore entirely possible to breastfeed after a breast lift. - How old you have to be to have a breast lift?
It can be done from the age of 17, which is when your breasts are fully developed. You must have parental consent for this. The earlier the intervention is carried out, the more satisfactory the results will be.
Useful information
Before the intervention
- 2 consultations need to be arranged: one with the plastic surgeon and the other with the anaesthetist.
- Stop smoking 1 month before the intervention
- Do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs for 10 days before the intervention.
- A mammography and an ultrasound scan are carried out.
- Pre-operative photographs are taken.
- 15-day reflection period between the 1st consultation and the intervention.
Day of the intervention
- General anaesthetic.
- Duration of the intervention: 1.5-2.5 hours on average.
- You can go home the day after the intervention.
After the intervention
- Wear a medical bra day and night for 1 month.
- The stitches are not removed since they are absorbable.
- If the stitches are not absorbable, they are removed 8-20 days after the intervention.
- Return to work: after 7 days, depending on your work environment.
- Resume sport: gradually, after 1 month.
- Final result obtained: after 6 months.
