QUESTIONS/ANSWERS

How old do you have to be to have a breast reduction?
It can be done from the age of 17, which is when your breasts are fully developed. You must have parental consent for this. The earlier the intervention is carried out, the more satisfactory the results will be.
Can you breastfeed after a breast reduction?
The ducts delivering milk to the nipples are not touched during the intervention. You can therefore breastfeed after a breast reduction.
Can this operation be done before becoming pregnant?
There are no contraindications for pregnancy after a breast reduction. You are nevertheless advised to wait 1 year between the intervention and becoming pregnant.

Before the intervention

2 consultations need to be arranged: one with the plastic surgeon and the other with the anaesthetist.
Stop smoking 1 month before the intervention
Do not take aspirin or anti-inflammatory drugs for 10 days before the intervention.
Obligatory mammography.
Pre-operative photographs are taken.
15-day reflection period between the 1st consultation and the intervention.
