Breast lipofilling
Also known as fat transfer breast augmentation , a breast lipofilling procedure can be combined with a breast implant (composite technique). In a nutshell, the purpose of a breast lipofilling intervention is to enlarge and remodel breasts by injecting fat taken directly from the hips and/or thighs and/or buttocks and/or stomach. It is an increasingly popular plastic surgery intervention, especially suitable for low-volume breast enlargements.

- Can you breastfeed after a breast lipofilling?
Yes, a woman can breastfeed after a breast lipofilling since it does not touch any of the lactiferous ducts. - How old do you have to be to have a breast lipofilling?
You can have a fat transfer breast augmentation from the age of 17, which is when your breasts are fully developed. - Can all patients have recourse to breast lipofilling?
According to recommendations made by the French Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery, breast lipofilling is not recommended for women older than 35. It is also not recommended for women with a personal and/or direct family (mother, aunt) medical history of breast cancer.

Before the intervention
- Two consultations need to be arranged: one with the plastic surgeon and the other with the anaesthetist.
- You will be given a quote and a mutual informed consent form, which must both be signed before the intervention.
- Stop smoking for 1 month before and after the intervention.
- Do not take aspirin (except for cardiovascular indications to be discussed with your cardiologist and/or anaesthetist) for 10 days before the intervention.
- Do not take anti-inflammatory drugs for 10 days before the intervention.
- Shaving is not obligatory but is recommended if an axillary route is used.
- Pre-operative photographs are taken.
- 15-day medico-legal reflection period (which cannot be shortened) between the 1st consultation and the intervention.
Day of the intervention
- General anaesthetic.
- Duration of the intervention: 1-3 hours on average, depending on the volume desired.
- You can go home the same day (outpatient procedure) or after 1 night on average in hospital.
After the intervention
- Gently dry the dressings with a hair dryer after every shower.
- Option of physiotherapy sessions after the intervention.
- The stitches are not removed since they are absorbable.
- Wear a compression bra day and night for 1 month.
- Oedema for 1-2 weeks.
- Return to work: after 4-7 days on average, depending on your work environment.
- Resume sport: after 4 weeks.
- Final result obtained: after 3-6 months.
- Consultations after 15 days, 3 months and 12 months for a clinical check-up and to take post-operative photographs.
- Regular clinical (by a gynaecologist or plastic surgeon) and radiological (ultrasound) monitoring must be carried out at least every 2 years if the procedure is combined with breast- prosthesis insertion.
